With the season of change upon us with the cooler nights, falling leaves and school starting., we have some fun treats to offer for the month of September.
We hope everyone enjoyed the end of summer with the gorgeous weather here in the PNW. Despite a little setback upon moving out of the cottage storefront (my body decided I needed to have forced down time with getting shingles, boo!), we are getting organized and into our new groove with taking online orders and pickup by appointment from our commercial kitchen here in Kingston. Our Bliss Blast End of Summer Sale was a great success, and it was such a delight to see many of you come pickup and see where we are now! Many of you commented how easy we were to find, that there’s no fighting with ferry traffic or finding a parking space. Win-Win!!

We are writing to you with gratitude for being a faithful customer. Sweet Life Cakery’s journey started 15 years ago in March 2010 when we completed the build out and permitting of our private commercial kitchen space. At that time, owner Methia worked as a solopreneur creating cakes and desserts for many occasions with the dream of someday opening a small bakery storefront where she could connect with her customers and community; Making Life….a little sweeter. That dream came true in August 2014 when, what we call “the cottage” opened. The last 11 years has been full of growth, challenges, growing pains and pure joy serving our community through the cottage. We will remember this time with great fondness and pride of what we have created as we move onto the next chapter.
Our beloved turquoise cottage on Hwy 104 in Kingston will be closing it’s doors as our storefront on July 19th, 2025. Sweet Life Cakery will remain in business shifting from a walk-in brick and mortar retail space to easy online pre-order purchases with pickup from our commercial kitchen in Kingston, bringing things back to where they first began and hoping you will follow along.
Serving you and sharing in your life celebrations and special moments has been our great honor, and we hope it will continue for years to come! More than ever, we appreciate your continued support. This is a shared moment of transition, and we want to keep you informed of several important details:
As mentioned, Sweet Life Cakery will continue to operate with easy online ordering of many of your favorite items! Simply go to: www.SweetLifeCakery.com. Please note that we will not take any orders for pickup July 20th-July 31st. Online orders for the month of August only will be limited to our signature Sweet Bliss Cakes, Sour Cherry and Mixed Berry Pies. Here is a sweet deal though: If you order between now and July 19 for pick-up in August at our Commercial Kitchen, you will receive 20% off your order using the code DISCOUNT20 at checkout! *Note: Our commercial kitchen is within walking distance (10 min) from the ferry and the address will be shared upon placing orders.
You can now also order several of our items through Kitsap Fresh, which is an online farmers market that gives you access to over 50 local food producers. They have easy online ordering with 8 convenient pick-up locations or home delivery, and no membership is required. You can check them out at www.KitsapFresh.org.
Pie fans, did you know you can grab a slice of our pie(s) at the Port Gamble General Store? We have been supplying their cafe with our pies for the past 5+ years! So, if you just need a slice, go get one there!
During our final weekend in the storefront on July 18 and 19, we hope you will join us at the cottage for some fun and reminiscing. Spin the prize wheel for freebie giveaways, enter a drawing for some Sweet Life Cakery memorabilia, and share any thoughts or memories with us in person and in our keepsake guest book.

Sweet new things are happening at our cottage storefront!
Hello Sweet Life Cakery friends!
If you’ve visited our storefront recently you’ve probably noticed some changes. We’re excited to announce we now have espresso and panini sandwiches! This addition and perfect pairing come by way of a business-to-business collaboration with the new Kingston Coffee Company! You’ll find their espresso cart anchored right inside our front door, serving award winning Seattle espresso & Italian style paninis. They use high-quality ingredients & our in-house made focaccia bread.
At the cart, you can also find Sweet Life Cakery scones and biscotti. On our days off, you will find a limited grab and go selection of our signature treats in the bakery case to purchase with your panini or coffee drink.
In addition, we have added some extra seating to the main shop area. We invite you to nibble, sip and sit for awhile enjoying the charm and views from our sweet seaside cottage.
CURRENT WINTER HOURS—
KINGSTON COFFEE COMPANY- Weekdays 7-4pm and Weekends 9-4pm.
SWEET LIFE CAKERY (Full bakery case)- Thursday-Saturday 10-4pm

May Day & Mother’s Day: Beautiful Blooms and Cake
Apparently here in the Pacific Northwest our rain totals for April are below average, nonetheless I have had the saying “April showers bring May flowers” on my mind. This led me to think about combining the beauty of flowers with cake and what better time to do that with May Day and Mothers Day approaching!
With some looking around the internet at edible flower recipes for inspiration and a Sunday visit to a local organic flower farm, to collect some beautiful blooms, I set to work creating.

Lilac Lemon Cake with fresh Blueberry
Our featured cake flavor for May incorporates the delicate floral scent of lilacs. Did you know lilacs are edible? I didn’t either until I stumbled across a recipe for lilac syrup. I decided to pair this subtle floral note with our Light and Lovely Lemon Cake and a fresh made blueberry compote. Each lemon layer is brushed with the lilac syrup. These flavors delicately meld together perfectly.
Lilacs grown in my own garden and beautiful golden Ranunculus from Petal & Pitchfork Farms in Poulsbo, WA.

Let’s start with our Thanksgiving menu. We have pies both big and small so you can still celebrate even if it’s for one or two! Our Brunch for the Fam is also back and of course you can order any of our Signature Treats as well. Please see our menu for specifics about ordering deadline and pickup days and times.

We can’t wait to see you!
We made it to June! While the past few months have not been easy for any of us, I want to thank everyone again who has shown up to help support my business. Without your support there is no doubt, at the least, that this challenging time would have been much more challenging. For that, I am truly grateful and thankful that you have shown me that my business matters to you, your family and our community.
During these uncertain times we have realized that things just won’t be as they once were, at least for awhile. However, I remain hopeful that our community and small businesses will continue to rebuild its economic strength and resilience. As a gently reminder, Sweet Life Cakery is a boutique cake shop. We make small batches from scratch and made to order. We are a team of two. While we try to meet as many requests as possible, we must continue to make our own mental and physical health a priority in finding balance with running a small business, therefore we are adjusting our days and hours of operations and our ordering deadline policies to meet our new production schedule.
Starting Wednesday, June 3rd we will be offering a limited amount and variety of products for in store purchases. For this reason, we highly encourage you to continue to PREORDER if you know you need larger quantities or something for a special event. We have put together a set PreOrder Menu with the most frequently ordered items and we have updated our Cottage Cake and Cupcake Menu. As we work through this new norm we will add weekly Cottage specials as time allows.
For all PreOrders we will continue to offer curbside pickup and/or we have set up a PreOrder PickUp table right inside the store where your order will have your name on it so all you have to do is grab and go.
We look forward to seeing and serving you again!
