May Day & Mother’s Day: Beautiful Blooms and Cake for May
Apparently here in the Pacific Northwest our rain totals for April are below average, nonetheless I have had the saying “April showers bring May flowers” on my mind. This led me to think about combining the beauty of flowers with cake and what better time to do that with May Day and Mothers Day approaching!
With some looking around the internet at edible flower recipes for inspiration and a Sunday visit to a local organic flower farm, to collect some beautiful blooms, I set to work creating.

Lilac Lemon Cake with fresh Blueberry
Our featured cake flavor for May incorporates the delicate floral scent of lilacs. Did you know lilacs are edible? I didn’t either until I stumbled across a recipe for lilac syrup. I decided to pair this subtle floral note with our Light and Lovely Lemon Cake and a fresh made blueberry compote. Each lemon layer is brushed with the lilac syrup. These flavors delicately meld together perfectly.
Quantities will be limited but our cottage storefront case will be stocked with all of our signature treats and assorted cupcakes to choose from on Friday May 6th 12-5pm and Saturday May 7th 10am-4pm or until sold out.
